4. The development of program-appropriate audio/video recordings for use in supervision or live supervision of the student’s interactions with clients.

 School Counseling

There are three counseling labs that are equipped with a one-way mirror and DVD recording for use in the Practicum/Internship classes. The Department owns four mobile audio/video recording units that are for use in both individual supervision and Practicum/Internship classes. Students may utilize their own audio/computer recording. Additional audio/video recording units are available from the College’s Media Center. A minimum of three audio/video recordings are reviewed with the student’s on campus individual supervisor during Practicum.

Clinical Mental Health Counseling

The above mentioned equipment and facilities are used by the students in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program. Students may utilize their own audio/computer recording. Additionally, the TCNJ Clinic provides six individual rooms and one play therapy room, all of which are equipped with DVD recording equipment, and three of which have a one-way mirror. The students in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program who complete practicum hours at TCNJ Clinic have access to these rooms and DVD recordings.

Marriage, Couple and Family Counseling and Therapy

Same as the CMHC Program.

5. Evaluation of the student’s counseling performance throughout the practicum, including documentation of a formal evaluation after the student completes the practicum.

School Counseling

The Practicum experience uses formative evaluation of the student’s performance throughout the semester and summative evaluations at the end. Ongoing evaluation occurs through evaluation of case conceptualizations, K-12 analysis papers, role-plays, counselor self-reflection projects, and audio and/or videotape critiques. Additionally, the site supervisors complete a Weekly Supervision Session Log highlighting the student’s performance on a weekly basis and periodically submit them to the student’s group supervisor. Summative evaluation of the student’s performance is primarily accomplished by the faculty supervisor with input from the site supervisor and the on campus individual supervisor who complete the appropriate Practicum Evaluation of Student Forms at the end of Practicum course (See Practicum Evaluation of Student for use by the site supervisors; and Practicum Evaluation of Student for use by the on campus individual supervisors). These evaluations are reviewed with the student and submitted to the group supervisor.
